Stunt Bike Arctic: Environment

Stunt Bike Arctic takes place on an iceberg near the top of planet earth. It’s here that Otis the Polar Bear calls home. When he’s not out swimming and eating fish, Otis likes to snowboard and bike in his natural winter wonderland. The iceberg seems to be getting a bit smaller these days, but with your help we’ll keep Otis riding up in the Arctic for a long time to come.

Providing our players with a virtual experience in a gorgeous and brilliant arctic environment will both enhance the game and help players to understand the importance of protecting this place.

The island is made up of both natural and man-made objects, such as:

o Glaciers/Ice burgs/Ice floating in the ocean: Chunks of ice floating in the water can be used as bridges for the player to jump from in order to get certain power-ups or access hard to get areas of the map.

o Huge Air Ski Jump: A big ski jump at the bottom of a hill which allows you to hurl yourself high into the air, but watch out for those flocks of Snow Geese. Occasionally penguins, seals, and walruses can be seen flying down the jump and into the sea.

o Off-shore oil rigs: There’s an off-shore oil rig in the far distance when the game starts up. As the temperature rises, the oil rig gets closer and closer to the island, bringing with it a dark oil sludge and dark black smoke.

Stunt Bike Arctic: Terrain

Here’s our early 3D concept “sketch” of the terrain and the initial thinking that resulted in the terrain that’s now in the game:

In contrast to our previous game, we think the island should be more like a pyramid/mountain shape, with less flat spaces. Meaning the edges, other than the ice shelf, should taper down to the ocean. Near the shore we picture bits and pieces of floating ice, making the border between ice and ocean a little blurry. We also picture cracks in the center of the ice that are like crevasses down to the sea.

Although we like the tunnel, we could have an ice jump that somehow puts Otis into a loop-de-loop Ski Jump. There would be a huge ski jump where Otis could take off from the top of a cliff and fly almost across the entire island.

Stunt Bike Arctic: In-Game Vehicles

The game will feature 3 different vehicles for Otis to travel on; a Snowboard, a Fat Tire Mountain Bike, and a Futuristic Power Bike.

On the Vehicle Selection Screen Otis will have a choice of 3 vehicles. His Snowboard, Fat Tire Mountain Bike, and Futuristic Power Bike. The Vehicle selection shows Otis standing outside of his igloo drinking a warm cup of fish broth.

Snowboard
Otis’ snowboard slides along the ground pretty easily even if Otis isn’t kicking. When you press the forward arrow, Otis auto-magically is propelled forward.

Mountain Bike
Otis’ mountain bike is a fat tire mountain bike with high front suspension.

Power Bike
Otis’ Power Bike is a fossil fuel burning vehicle. It is faster and stronger than the Snowboard and Mountain Bike, but it causes the temperature to rise at a faster rate. It leaves behind oil stained snow and sludge, and scares the other animals away. You may be able to go faster and get more powerups and score multipliers, but your time on the island will be cut shorter. (Our not so subtle message about fossil fuel transportation.)

Stunt Bike Arctic: Climate change is causing the frozen world of the arctic to melt way too fast, but Otis needs this ice to ride! Otis is a stunt bike and snowboard riding polar bear. Please help him save his home. If the temperature gets too hot all the ice will melt and Otis won’t have anywhere to ride. Enjoying extreme biking and boarding in the arctic, pulling off amazing tricks and stunts to keep the temperature down, and who knows - maybe you’ll even help save the arctic

Game Concept: The overall concept of the game is that the polar ice caps are melting and you have to keep the temperature down by collecting environmentally friendly power ups, pulling off insane stunts, and scoring points to get time/temperature bonuses.
